Rooting your phone using Kingroot can be done using PC or without PC. If you want to root your phone using PC, you will need a computer which run Windows and the original USB cable or a good quality one.

After you prepare the computer and also the USB cable, then you have to download Kingoroot in your PC. Then, install it and also launch it. After installing and launching the KingoRoot app, you have to connect your HTC to computer by using the included USB cable. After that, enable USB debugging mode. Before you begin rooting your device, you need to be aware about the risks that you will get after rooting process.

If you have checked all those things but you still face the problem, you are able to try to change another USB cable and if you have, you can use OEM ones. Then, you can also try an alternate USB port. Usually, there is a USB 2.0 port behind your computer and you can try it. In addition, you are able to try unchecking Media device (MTP) in the USB Connection Settings. If there is an USB icon in your notification center, you have to click it to uncheck MTP. Alternatively, you are able to access Settings, Storage, Menu item in upper right, USB computer connection and then Uncheck MTP.

Besides, another solution is disabling any system modification related to the USB port such as applying fast USB charge hack. You may have installed driver correctly, but you still find “Device not connected” with Kingo. If it happens, you are able to open Task Manager and you can do it by right clicking the taskbar, and clicking Start Task Manager. It can also be done by hitting Ctrl + Shift + Esc. After that, discover adb.exe and right click it and then choose End Process Tree. Now, you are able to close Kingo Android Root and re-launch it.
